Well, I’m currently working on getting a drupal site up and running for a quartet I sing in called, “The Missourians”. There’s not too much to installing the drupal core. And, I was rather impressed with the few things required to get drupal working on the server. (Good job, Drupal community developers!)

So, now I have Drupal setup and working. I’ve changed the theme to framework 1.6 – Framework is a generic theme that allows someone to make changes and make it look like a unique site, but with Framework, they don’t have to start from scratch.

I’m using the 6.1 version of Drupal on the site, so the core version includes more of the optional components that many like to add, however, some big(cool) modules that Drupal has to offer for the 5.x platform, aren’t available yet for the 6.x platform.

So, the “Event” module, that I would like to have on the Missourians site, is still just a development release. I’m torn between using the Drupal 5.7 core and then upgrading later, or sticking with 6.1 and just waiting until the different modules become available.

I’m going to install 5.7 and try it out, and see if I’m too concerned about any “new” features available in the 6.1 release.

And that’s all for First look at Drupal CMS
